To travel to Europe the cats must present their passport... The European Commission has adopted on November 27 2003 new rules for the "noncommercial movements of the pets". The idea is to harmonize and simplify the rules applicable to displacements by replacing sometimes many documents and in all variable cases according to country of destination's, by a single document attesting the identity of the animal and the reality of its vaccination against the rabies...: a European passport for the pets (dog, cat, pipe cleaner). After several postponement, the aforementioned passport is available in France since October 1, 2004. It is not exigible for the animals remaining in France. How to obtain it? This passport is delivered by a veterinary surgeon, who gets it near an editor recorded with the Official Journal. Which information are comprises in it? The objective of the passport is to gather in the same document the identification of the animal and information necessary to check its statute with respect to the rabies (in particular). It thus mentions :

What does it look like ? It acts in notebook format 10x15,2 cm, numbered (ISO code of the followed Member State of a single number corresponding to the microchip or the tattooing of identification of the animal), of about thirty numbered same pages they, comprising the identification number of the animal (chip or tattooing) and other information as described above. It is written in the official language of the transmitting country with translation in English Does it replace other documents ? The passport does not replace the anti-rabic CERFA of vaccination (blue or pink) which will continue to be delivered. The information related to the CERFA will be simply copied on the passport! Nevertheless, it will be henceforth useless to carry on a journey the notebook of vaccination, the CERFA and the certificate of good health, the whole being gathered in the passport.
